Amazon started offering support for DRM-free EPUB files that are e-mailed to Kindle e-readers since April last year. That was a surprise move that perhaps none had expected coming from Amazon given how ferociously protective the retail giant usually is with regard to the sort of content that could be read via Kindle devices. For Amazon, the ideal scenario would be to source all of your content requirements from the Kindle Store.
@jimthing As I was told by an author, while Amazon now accepts epub files, they convert them to mobi files before putting them in the Kindle Store. I then have to use Calibre to convert them back to epub so I can upload them to my iPad Minis.

Good E-Reader reports that the new compatibility is now in effect as of late August 2022. Users can send EPUB files through their Kindle email address. With this change, however, comes the news that Kindle no longer support MOBI files, a format supported on Kindle devices from its inception. MOBI files previously downloaded to Kindles will still be accessible, but all new ebooks will need to be downloaded in an EPUB or proprietary Amazon format.
The email method works great for one or two books at a time, but it's inconvenient if you have several to send over at once. You can access the Kindle's file system using a USB cable to drag and drop your files onto the device. The same file type limitations apply here, so make sure you convert your books into a format the Kindle can read. 2ff7e9595c
